Doctor Doom Reading Order, 1962-1981: World Domination

The comic book history of one of the biggest, baddest villains in the Marvel Universe begins here! He went to college with Reed Richards and Ben Grimm. He’s the ruler of the nation of Latveria. He’s a constant thorn in the side of the Fantastic Four. And all he wants is power – as much of it as he can get his gauntlets on….

Doctor Doom gets the reading order treatment with this, the first chunk of his chronology. When he’s not trying to take over the world or gain ultimate power, Doom likes is setting up elaborate ways to torment Mister Fantastic (sometimes in downright weird ways) and trying to procure his mother’s soul from Hell!

I normally give a shout out to the Marvel Chronology Project at this point, which I use as a reference guide while adding my own tweaks to the suggested order.

I’d like to thank the Unofficial Handbook of Marvel Comics Creators, the Marvel Chronology Project, the Marvel Database and the Appendix to the Handbook of the Marvel Universe for their invaluable assistance!

SCROLL DOWN to the bottom for the KEY COLLECTED EDITIONS for this event!

Must Reads: Story arcs marked with a ✔ are must-read stories from this time period, along with any key related stories and often-forgotten tales that are worth a read.

Chronology: Every appearance of Doctor Doom from this period is included in chronological order, laying out their timeline rather than just the order the issues were released.

Anthology Issues: When an issue contains multiple stories, the relevant story is denoted with square brackets. For example, [2/5] refers to the second story of the five stories in that issue, so you don’t need to read the other four.

Spoilers: The issue/story overviews may include spoilers, so be warned!

Want to keep it simple? Here’s the core reading order without story descriptions, page-by-page breakdowns – just the stories:
