Arguably the stand-out character from Marvel’s 2099 titles from the early ’90s, Miguel O’Hara wore a new costume and almost-defied the very thing that defined the original Spider-Man. The world of 2099 proved to be a corrupt, corporate-led world and Spider-Man 2099 stood against it! But under the pen of writer Peter David, things would never be as black and white as they first seemed!
While our 2099 WORLD OF TOMORROW reading order covers the future incarnations of Spider-Man, the Punisher, Doctor Doom and others, this reading order purely focuses on the original chronology of Miguel O’Hara – made famous by the incarnation appearing in the ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ film from 2023. But the comics version is very different!
Must Reads: Story arcs in bold in the Core List or marked with a ✔ in the Full Reading Order are must-read stories from this time period, along with any key related stories and often-forgotten tales that are worth a look.
Anthology Issues: When an issue contains multiple stories, the relevant story is denoted with square brackets. For example, [2/5] refers to the second story of the five stories in that issue, so you don’t need to read the other four.
Chronology: Every appearance of Spider-Man 2099 from the original Earth-928 reality from this period is included in chronological order, laying out their timeline rather than just the order the issues were released.
Spoilers: The issue/story overviews may include spoilers, so be warned!
Additional Note: While I’ve noted each of the four primary titles here as the first appearances of each character, Marvel previewed the first eight pages of Spider-Man 2099 in Amazing Spider-Man #365. This technically makes that ASM issue his first appearance.
