The Golden Age (2021) Reading Order

Still impacted by his Anti-Life Equation infection (during DARK NIGHTS: DEATH METAL), Superman’s life is about to be placed in further jeopardy. Is it time for Jon Kent to accept that the Golden Age of childhood is over and he may need to become the next Superman?

This event is also part of INFINITE FRONTIER and acts as a prelude to THE WARWORLD SAGA.

Superman and his son, Jon Kent aka Superboy, fend off invading aliens in Earth’s orbit. The energy from the Breach that acts as a doorway for the aliens begins to weaken Superman, but not Superboy. Amanda Waller allows the attacks to continue in order to study the effects on Superman, despite the STAR Labs station having a Singularity Cannon that is more than capable of closing the Breach. Later, Superboy reveals to his father that he learned the day of Superman’s death during his time in the future (when he joined the Legion of Super-Heroes during MILLENNIUM (2019)). For possibly the first time, Jon sees Superman bleed. Kelex reveals the Breaches were caused by STAR Labs in the first place, just as another rift opens in space…

A STAR Labs scientist aboard the space station confirms that they initially opened the Breach, not the aliens. Amanda Waller ordered them to study the impact on Superman. The Breach can only be closed from the other side, so Superboy takes the Singularity Cannon through the tear in space to seal it. He fires the cannon and flies through before it seals, saving Earth and also saving Superman from his dark destiny. These events are watched by Mongul who’s planning to kill Superman, himself…

Amanda Waller forms her own Justice League, recruiting Bizarro (Match) as in the ‘Superman’ role.
Action Comics #1044 (2022)
Amanda Waller continues to disrupt the efforts of Superman’s friends while he’s in space.

Superman: Warworld Apocalypse #1 (2022)
Superman’s radiation poisoning is cured by his exposure to radiation from a subverted Star Forge on Warworld.
