Since Polaris‘ arrival at Moira MacTaggert‘s Mutant Research Centre on Muir Island, the behaviour of everyone around her has changed for the worse. It’s become clear this is the work of the Shadow King; an old foe of Charles Xavier from some time before he became Professor X and formed the X-Men. This psychic entity has found a host body in Jacob Reisz of the FBI, turned Val Cooper of the Commission on Superhuman Activities to his cause and continued to summon other mutants to Muir Island.
The next to make their way to this mutant haven off the Scottish coast will be Rogue who’s just finding her feet again after ending her relationship with Magneto in the Savage Land.
Now, it’s all up to the X-Men to save their fellow mutants and stop the Shadow King from turning the entire planet into a seething cauldron of hate and despair. The team have just come back from a harrowing mission in Shi’ar space where they reunited with Professor X once again. But should they fail in their mission, who could Xavier call upon?
Back in New York, X-Factor’s sentient Ship exploded above the city during a conflict with Apocalypse. While the world believes the team – made up of the five original X-Men – may have perished, they’re secretly recovering from the loss of Cyclops‘ infant son…
