Absolute Universe Reading Order, 2024-Present: The Elseworld

In the wake of DARK NIGHTS: DEATH METAL (2020-2021), a new universe joined Earth-Prime at the centre of the multiverse. But it’s not until Darkseid is transported to the Elseworld that we see its true nature as a dark mirror to Earth-Prime.

Initially launching with a Wonder Woman who’s a princess of Hell, a brooding Superman and a beefcake Batman, the Absolute Universe became a surprise success for DC Comics. Despite appearances, the line shows DC’s three biggest characters in a new light that mirrors events from the characters’ earliest days and, despite the darker world they inhabit, prove their heroism to be unshakable.

This reading order will be ongoing and added to over time and these titles are still ongoing.

Must Reads: Story arcs marked with a ✔ are must-read stories from this time period, along with any key related stories and often-forgotten tales that are worth a read.

Anthology Issues: When an issue contains multiple stories, the relevant story is denoted with square brackets. For example, [2/5] refers to the second story of the five stories in that issue, so you don’t need to read the other four.

Chronology: Every appearance of the Absolute Universe from this period is included in chronological order, laying out their timeline rather than just the order the issues were released.

Spoilers: The issue/story overviews may include spoilers, so be warned!

Want to keep it simple? Here’s the core reading order without story descriptions, page-by-page breakdowns – just the stories:
